When do people become a community? Webinar with Mike Zilberg, Tuesday, November 3, 2026, 10:00 AM, ZOOM
Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · 10:00 AM · Zoom

When do people become a community?

How do you turn a group of people into a community with real connection, involvement and a genuine wish to belong? And when is it even the right time to invest in building one?

Mike Zilberg, entrepreneur and community-building expert, founder and CEO of 18X Elite Impact, will present the model he developed, “Peaks of Community”: when to build a community, how to build it, and what we can learn from inspiring communities.

Whether you manage a community of donors, alumni, volunteers, activists or partners, it is worth coming to learn Mike's approach.

A campaign whiz who leads you to success

With years of experience in nonprofit management, organizational and strategic consulting, program development, marketing and resource development, I know that a crowdfunding campaign is much more than raising money. About the community

What is the Givers community?

The Givers community is Israel's nonprofit community from Jgive: a space for nonprofit managers looking for tools, ideas and connections from the field. The community offers in-person meetups, recorded talks, practical knowledge in Jgive Academy, and WhatsApp and Facebook groups.

It is a community of nonprofit managers who share tools, ideas and experience from the field: in a WhatsApp group with monthly knowledge-sharing conversations, at in-person meetups, in recorded talks and in Jgive Academy. Joining is through the community's WhatsApp group.

Who is behind the community?

The community belongs to Jgive, a nonprofit organization born in 2014 during Operation Protective Edge. The Jgive team supports the nonprofits in the community, and you can reach out with any question through the “Talk to us” button.

Meetups and talks

What meetups does the community hold?

The community holds in-person meetups for nonprofit leaders: talks, workshops and conversations from the field. The first took place on July 15, 2026, and the next is Givers Meetup #2: Philanthropy 2.0, on November 30, 2026 in Jerusalem, from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM.

What is Givers Meetup #2: Philanthropy 2.0?

Givers Meetup #2 is an in-person meetup for nonprofits taking place on Monday, November 30, 2026, in Jerusalem, from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM. The program includes a behind-the-scenes look at advanced foundations, how they make decisions and what builds trust, a panel with two case studies: one capital project and one government tender, and three roundtables: self-generated revenue, capital projects and Pay for Success. The meetup also includes breakfast, networking and an expo of the Partner Incubator partners.

Where can I watch the recorded talks?

In the “Recorded talks” section on this page: “On donor retention”, “The superpower of CRM systems”, reaching a donor base in North America, cracking a nonprofit's story live, and trauma and resilience on the day after.

How do nonprofits deal with trauma and resilience in the days after a crisis?

The community has a recorded talk, “Trauma and resilience on the day after”, with Dina Dror, a social worker and psychotherapist from the Ella Center nonprofit. You can watch it in the “Recorded talks” section on this page.

Fundraising and donors

How do you raise money for a nonprofit?

Nonprofits raise funds from a variety of sources, including crowdfunding from the general public, philanthropic foundations, government support and regular donors. It is common to start with a clear definition of the fundraising purpose and measurable goals, and to check after every campaign what worked and what did not. In the Givers community you can ask other nonprofits what worked for them, and in Jgive's Partner Incubator there are professionals who support campaigns and resource development.

What is crowdfunding for nonprofits and how do you do it right?

Crowdfunding is raising a predetermined sum from the general public, where each person gives according to their ability and wish, usually through Facebook, newsletters and WhatsApp messages. According to Jgive's knowledge center, it is best to reach only a relevant target audience, use an image or video and clear text, expand on the donation page about the essence of the campaign, and recruit ambassadors, such as employees, board members, volunteers and regular donors. You can split the fundraising goal into personal goals: instead of raising a million shekels from the general public, ask a volunteer to raise a thousand shekels from their close circle.

What is the difference between a nonprofit's campaign and a private individual's campaign?

According to Jgive's knowledge center, in a private individual's campaign donors cannot know for certain how the money will be used, there is no reporting obligation, and the donation is not tax-recognized. In the campaign of a nonprofit that has a Certificate of Proper Management and a tax credit approval under Section 46, you can know exactly where the money goes, and the donation is recognized for a tax refund.

How do you retain donors?

Donor retention is an area that nonprofits usually manage with a CRM system. The Givers community has two recorded talks on the topic: “On donor retention”, with Maya Azulay, VP of Resource Development at Leket Israel, and “The superpower of CRM systems”, with Elinor Guetta, Customer Success Operations Manager. You can watch them in the “Recorded talks” section on this page.

How do you reach a donor base in North America?

The Givers community has a recorded talk on the topic, with Amy Schiffman, President and CEO of Evolve Giving Group, about how to reach a donor base in North America. You can watch it in the “Recorded talks” section on this page.

How do you tell a nonprofit's story in a way that raises funds?

The community has a recorded talk, “Cracking it live: what's your story”, with Yoav Well, strategic organizational consultant for nonprofit development, who is also a partner in Jgive's Partner Incubator and specializes in storytelling and fundraising strategy.

Setting up a nonprofit and the law

How do you set up a nonprofit in Israel?

According to Jgive's knowledge center, under the law two citizens over the age of 18 can establish a nonprofit, and to be recognized as a nonprofit organization by the Tax Authority at least seven founders with no family relation among them are required. The steps: choosing bylaws (you can adopt the Registrar of Nonprofits' generic bylaws) with two to three main purposes, establishing a general assembly, an audit committee and a management committee, and submitting a registration application with three names in order of preference. The online submission can only be made by attorneys and accountants, and the response usually arrives within 8 business days. Requirements may change, so it is worth verifying with the Registrar of Nonprofits.

What is Section 46 approval and a Certificate of Proper Management?

Approval under Section 46 of the Income Tax Ordinance allows donors to a nonprofit to receive a tax credit for their donation. A Certificate of Proper Management is an official certificate from the Registrar of Nonprofits, and it is a threshold condition for receiving many benefits. You can check on the Registrar of Nonprofits' website whether a nonprofit has the certificate. Conditions change, so it is worth checking them with the Registrar of Nonprofits and the Tax Authority. In the Partner Incubator there is an attorney and CPA who supports nonprofits in obtaining a Certificate of Proper Management and Section 46 approval.

Knowledge and support

What is Jgive Academy?

Jgive Academy is a dedicated space of knowledge and content for nonprofits, on resource development, data management, marketing and branding. It includes step-by-step guides, webinars and recordings, and in-person courses. The first course is the Crowdfunding Campaign Managers Course, which kicks off on December 16, 2026.

Where can I find guides and materials for nonprofits?

Jgive's guides for nonprofits explain step by step how to work with campaigns, CRM, receipts, finances and reports. You can find all the community materials in the community Padlet.

What is Jgive's Partner Incubator?

The Partner Incubator is a group of professionals with a big heart who support nonprofits and offer them services and consulting, including in campaigns, storytelling, design, video, and legal and tax support. Each partner provides the service directly, and pricing is set with them. Opening a campaign on Jgive does not require using any of them.

Which professionals are in the Partner Incubator?
